The MIT Sloan Sales Club mission is to promote sales as a critically important and fundamental business skill necessary for every career, either as a successful entrepreneur or as a top-level executive. Sales skills are one of the purest and most important competences in business and its application is not only about achieving measurable revenue targets, but also about selling your strategy, your marketing plans, your consulting final projects, and ultimately yourself.
The International MBA Sales Competition is designed to challenge the managerial sales skills of today's top business school students.
This competition will be an innovative and unique learning experience where participating students will face a dynamic case competition exploring real-life sales situations as well as interacting with high-level and successful executives. This preliminary round will form the basis for selection to the final round, recruiting the best three students from each of the fourteen top participant MBA Schools: Kellogg, Wharton, Babson, MIT Sloan, Haas Berkeley, Stanford, HBS, Duke, Boston University, USC, Tuck, Carnegie Mellon, Minnesota and Columbia. The 3 selected students will then come to Sloan on November 5th and compete for money prizes, recognition and on-the-spot recruiting opportunities. The final round will gather the top 3 MBA students interested in sales for a competition with a total of $6,000 in prizes. The final event will consist of two cases. The first case will be a one-on-one sales pitch. The second case will be a group sales presentation where each school will be represented by their top 3 students. These students will role-play specific assignments while presenting their final sales presentation to a board of VIP judges. Each student will be evaluated in each of the 3 aspects of the competition (preliminary wealth management-style telephone “cold call”, 1-on-1 sales pitch case and the group case pitch) by high-level, experienced professional judges. We will award a total of $6,000 to the top three students with the best performance.
